See also General Church Recorder, License Record Book, [iii]. Although JS was incarcerated in Liberty, Missouri, during the winter of 1838–1839, apparently general church recorder George W. Robinson continued to produce routine documents such as priesthood licenses. Likely in Robinson’s capacity as the First Presidency’s scribe, he signed JS’s name in his behalf. (See, for example, License for Gardner Snow, 19 Jan. 1839.)
